This section describes how VBOX Touch behaves during normal operation and what to expect when using the unit.
NOTE
The functionality described on this page applies to the default Performance App.
Behaviour may differ if a different app is installed.
A stable signal is required for accurate measurements.
VBOX Touch monitors GNSS signal quality continuously during operation. If the signal quality is reduced, it may affect the measurement accuracy.
Give the signal time to stabilise before starting a test, particularly after a power-up.
The unit records data to the SD card during operation.
By default:
- logging starts automatically when movement is detected
- logging can also be controlled manually using the touchscreen or a logging switch.
A Logging Status indicator is displayed on the screen when VBOX Touch is logging.
Always stop logging before removing the SD card to avoid data corruption.
NOTE
When logging is set to start automatically, the unit may begin logging even when the vehicle is stationary in conditions of poor satellite visibility.
CAUTION
Do not remove the SD card while the Logging Status Indicator is visible on the VBOX Touch screen.
This indicates that the unit is actively logging and writing data to the SD card. Removing the card during this process may result in data loss or file corruption, and the SD card may need to be repaired before it can be used again.
Always confirm that logging has stopped before removing the SD card.
The recorded data is stored as log files on the SD card.
- Files are created automatically during logging.
- No manual save action is required.
- Data can be reviewed after testing using compatible software.
Make sure that the SD card has sufficient storage space available for the duration of the test.
VBOX Touch records the following data to the SD card in a .vbo file format:
GNSS Data
- number of satellites in use
- time (UTC)
- position (latitude, longitude)
- speed and heading
- height and vertical velocity
Acceleration Data
- longitudinal acceleration
- lateral acceleration
System Data
- solution type (GNSS / DGNSS / RTK status)
- event timing (trigger inputs)
RTK Data (if applicable)
- correction age
- number of satellites used (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo)
Additional Data (if configured)
- CAN input channels
- RL module channels
NOTE
The exact channels recorded will vary depending on the variant, configuration, selected display mode, and connected devices.
During operation, the unit provides feedback through:
- On-screen indicators.
- Status LEDs.
These indicate system state, logging activity, and test-related events.
Refer to the User Interface page for detailed behaviour and meanings.
- The measurement accuracy depends on satellite signal quality.
- Sudden power loss during logging may result in incomplete data.
- System behaviour may vary depending on the selected display mode and configuration.
