What is AMS Distance?

Updated on May 6, 2026

AMS Distance is a channel calculated in VBOX Test Suite when conducting Brake Speed or Brake Trigger tests using a VBOX unit.

The software calculates a theoretical braking distance if the vehicle were to decelerate at the Mean Fully Developed Deceleration (MFDD) for 100% of the brake stop.

The channel is calculated using the following formula:

AMS Distance (m) = 100% MFDD speed (m/s)2 2 × MFDD
