This page provides everything you need to update the firmware on your VBOX Mini LapTimer and understand what has changed between versions.
It includes:
- Firmware update instructions to guide you through the update process.
- Release notes outlining new features, improvements and bug fixes for each version.
Firmware updates may introduce new features, improve performance, or resolve known issues. We recommend keeping your device up to date to ensure the best performance and compatibility.
The update process is SD card-based and does not require any cables, software tools, or a PC connection.
Equipment List
- An SD card (FAT32 formatted)
- A computer to download and copy the firmware file
- Login details to download firmware from VBOX Motorsport.
- Your VBOX Mini LapTimer unit with a power supply
IMPORTANT
Your Mini LapTimer unit must be registered for you to receive the required login details to download the firmware file. If you have not registered your unit yet, you can use this Registration Form.
- Download the latest firmware file from the VBOX Motorsport Website.
- Unzip the folder and place the .upgrade file in the root directory of the SD card (not in the media or any other folder).
- Insert the SD card into the side panel of your unpowered VBOX Mini LapTimer.
- Power up the Mini LapTimer unit while long-pressing and holding the Up arrow button.
- The Mini LapTimer will display a progress bar until the upgrade is complete.
The unit will automatically power-cycle as part of the update process.
IMPORTANT
If the screen Orientation Mode is set to Inverted, the physical button functions temporarily revert to their default orientation during a firmware update. This means the Up button used during the update process is the physical arrow button pointing upwards when the unit is oriented with the Racelogic logo positioned below the screen.
June 2022
Initial release of Mini Lap Timer support using the shared Lap Timer V1 firmware platform.
At the time of release, separate Mini-specific firmware release notes were not maintained. Development and release tracking were shared with the Lap Timer V1 product range.
NOTE
Earlier firmware development history may be referenced in the Lap Timer V1 release notes because the Mini Lap Timer originally shared the same firmware platform.
