LabSat 3 Wideband is shipped with a rechargeable, lithium-ion Smart battery pack (Inspired Energy NB2037HD34). It is UN38.3 (transportation) certified and CE, FCC and REACH/RoHS compliant. Each pack gives up to 2 hours of record time. When LabSat 3 Wideband is powered externally, it will charge the internal battery pack if fitted, and seamlessly switch over to battery operation when external power is removed.
To install the LabSat 3 Wideband battery, depress the lid release lever on the unit rear panel, slide off the unit lid and insert the battery into the battery slot so that its connector mates with the battery connector inside the unit. To remove the battery, lift it out using the plastic tab attached to the battery pack.
If Labsat 3 Wideband is switched off while charging from an external supply, it will continue to charge until the battery reaches full capacity. Charging is indicated by the illumination of the blue LED next to the DC CHG input on the rear panel. When charging has finished, the blue LED will go out. Never leave a system unattended during charging or discharging of the battery pack.

When operating from battery power, the battery charge status will be shown in the top-right section of the display.

If external power is connected and the battery is being charged, a power symbol will be shown over the battery symbol.

The discharge temperature range for the battery is -20°C to +60°C. Therefore, if the LabSat is operating from battery power, it will power-down if the temperature falls outside this range.
The charge temperature range of the battery pack is 0 - 45°C. Outside this temperature range, the LabSat will switch off charging of the internal battery but will continue to operate from the external power supply.
Replace the battery using Racelogic Part No. RLACS229 only. Using a different battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, or equipment malfunction.

The battery used in this device may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated. Do not disassemble, incinerate, or expose the battery to temperatures above 60°C (140 °F).
To remove or replace the battery:
- Disconnect the unit from mains power.
- Remove the unit lid.
- Lift out the existing battery.
- Fit the replacement battery, ensuring the connectors align correctly with the connectors inside the unit.
Dispose of used batteries promptly in accordance with local regulations. Keep batteries out of reach of children.
- Store the battery fully charged.
- Leaving the battery in a depleted state for prolonged periods may reduce battery performance and could render the battery unusable.
- Do not immerse the battery pack in water.
- Do not incinerate the battery or dispose of it in fire.
- Do not short-circuit the battery terminals. This may generate high currents, resulting in overheating, electrolyte leakage, gassing, or fire.
- Do not disassemble the battery cells. This may cause an internal short circuit, resulting in overheating, gassing, fire, or other damage.
If the battery pack becomes damaged, electrolyte leakage may occur. Battery electrolyte is harmful to the human body.
If electrolyte comes into contact with the skin, eyes, or other parts of the body, rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical attention.
Do not use batteries showing any of the following signs:
- damaged outer casing or plastic covering,
- deformation,
- electrolyte leakage,
- unusual odour,
- or other visible abnormalities.
Keep leaking or damaged batteries away from heat and open flames to avoid ignition.
